In the ninth inning of Game Six, Glasnow briefly took the mound, throwing only three pitches. That brief appearance could make Ohtani the stronger candidate to start Game Seven, as the team may prefer Glasnow to be available in relief.
After Game Six concluded, Glasnow himself was straightforward about his readiness for Saturday’s decisive duel. He told reporters he was “ready to pitch in the crucial game,” confirming that he’s fully available if called upon.
What Dave Roberts said about his Game 7 starter
Dodgers manager Dave Roberts addressed the uncertainty surrounding his starting pitcher for the final and most important game of the 2025 World Series.
Right now there’s no wrong answer. [Ohtani is] certainly going to be a part of the pitching plan. With Shohei, it could be two innings, but it could be four innings. I’m not sure where we’re going to slot him. We’re going to have to talk to him first and see where he feels most comfortable.
It’s important to note that had Ohtani entered as a reliever during Game Six, he would have lost his designated hitter position. For that reason, starting him in Game Seven is the most strategic choice, giving Roberts and his staff flexibility to manage his role both as pitcher and batter.
