Philadelphia Eagles quarterback Jalen Hurts has been cleared from concussion protocol and will start in Sunday’s Wild Card playoff game against the Green Bay Packers.
Head coach Nick Sirianni announced the decision Friday, marking Hurts’ return after missing games since a December 22 loss to the Washington Commanders.
Hurts suffered the injury during the first quarter of the NFC East clash when a hard hit took him out of the game.
In his absence, Kenny Pickett stepped in as starting quarterback, keeping the Eagles unbeaten in games where he played all four quarters. Despite Pickett‘s steady performance, Hurts‘ return is a welcome boost for the Eagles as they enter the high-stakes postseason.

Hurts’ return brings new momentum
Known for his dual-threat abilities, Hurts has been instrumental in the Eagles‘ success this season. With him leading the offense, Philadelphia finished the regular season with a 14-3 record, earning the No. 2 seed in the NFC.
The team is determined to capitalize on this momentum, especially after last year’s Wild Card round exit at the hands of the Tampa Bay Buccaneers.
A win over the Packers would secure the Eagles a home game in the Divisional round, setting the stage for a deeper playoff push. Hurts played a pivotal role in Philadelphia’s 2022 campaign, guiding them to an NFC Championship and a Super Bowl appearance, where they narrowly fell to the Kansas City Chiefs. This year, he aims to take the team even further.
The playoff landscape adds an intriguing dynamic. If the Eagles beat Green Bay and the Washington Commanders win their game, Philadelphia would travel to Detroit for the Divisional round. However, a rematch with the Commanders could only happen in the NFC Championship.
As the Eagles gear up for Sunday’s matchup, fans and players alike are energized by Hurts’ return.
His leadership and skill set could be the key to rewriting the team’s playoff narrative and making a deeper postseason run.
