A rumor has emerged within the Milwaukee Bucks environment that has left fans deeply concerned about the possibility of a trade involving their franchise star, Giannis Antetokounmpo.
These concerns could intensify over time, especially as the team has opened the season with a disappointing 9-13 record.
The Bucks’ loss to the Detroit Pistons only added fuel to the fire, increasing speculation that Milwaukee’s beloved cornerstone might eventually end up with another franchise offering a better chance at contention.
Amid this atmosphere, multimedia analyst Bill Simmons has floated the possibility of a blockbuster trade that would send Antetokounmpo to the Atlanta Hawks.
He has long considered the Greek superstar an ideal target. Back in 2013, when Giannis was drafted, the Hawks hoped to bring him into their organization but ultimately missed out.

Simmons said, later adding:
For the Bucks it’s like, Hey, Trae Young, a fun guy to have on your team. He’s got two years left on his deal.
The Hawks are doing well this season, and without Young
Up to this point, Atlanta has demonstrated strong performance, accomplishing it largely without Young on the court. This only reinforces Simmons’ claim that Giannis would represent a monumental acquisition for the Hawks.
It would not be easy for Atlanta to part with its 2026 draft selections, which they would likely need to send to Milwaukee, but adding a player of Antetokounmpo’s caliber would compensate for what young prospects might not deliver in the early years.
The potential pairing of Giannis with Jalen Johnson would undoubtedly be something to watch, as the power and versatility of both players could elevate the team substantially. For the Hawks’ front office, such a bold move might be worth exploring, even if it requires taking risks with future draft assets.
Trying costs nothing, and the upside would be enormous if the proposed deal materialized, giving Atlanta a legitimate opportunity to reshape its trajectory with one of the NBA’s most dominant stars.
