Jake Paul and Mike Tyson are comfortably resting after the eight rounds of boxing they went through at AT&T Stadium in Dallas on Friday night.

In the end it was Paul who came out on top, winning by unanimous decision in a fight that some felt failed to live up the hype.

Despite that the two showed great sportsmanship once the final bell went, shaking hands and hugging each other in front of the nearly 70,000 in attendance and the millions of fans that tuned in on Netflix.

The fight signalled a return to the ring for Iron Mike after he faced off against Roy Jones Jr. four years ago in an exhibition fight.

Sanctioned by the Texas Department of Licensing and Regulation, guidelines now state that both Paul and Tyson take an enforced period of rest before returning to the ring.

Why Paul and Tyson were suspended

According to the stipulated requirements from the regulatory body, both Paul and Tyson must take three days rest for every round of boxing.

That means both fighters must have 24 days of inactivity in order to allow their bodies to heal before making a return to the ring, should they decide to do so.

What we do know is that Tyson was grateful to even make it to the ring given the the medical emergency he had back in May during a flight from Los Angeles to Miami.

Iron Mike passed out and when he woke up, he immediately started vomitting blood in the bathroom. After being taken to hospital, he stayed there for 11 days and had to go through eight blood transfusions just to get back to good health.

“This is one of those situations when you lost but still won. I’m grateful for last night. No regrets to get in ring one last time,” Tyson wrote on X.

“I almost died in June. Had 8 blood transfusions. Lost half my blood and 25lbs in hospital and had to fight to get healthy to fight so I won.

“To have my children see me stand toe to toe and finish 8 rounds with a talented fighter half my age in front of a packed Dallas Cowboy stadium is an experience that no man has the right to ask for. Thank you.”
