Ahead of her electrifying debut in the WNBA AllStar Game, Dallas Wings guard Paige Bueckers -formerly a college basketball sensation at UConn- seemingly confirmed what many had been speculating: her relationship with fellow Husky standout Azzi Fudd is more than just friendship.
Azzi Fudd isn’t just known for being Paige Bueckers’ “girlfriend.” She’s one of the most elite talents in women’s college basketball in her own right.
Who is Azzi Fudd?
Azzi Jazlyn Fudd was born on November 11, 2002, in Arlington, Virginia.A Gatorade National Player of the Year in 2019, Fudd made headlines early on at St. John’s College HS. Despite a major knee injury, she bounced back to lead UConn, averaging 13.6 points per game with an impressive 43.6%.
Now 22, the 5’11” shooting guard won an NCAA title with UConn in April 2025, where she was named the tournament’s Most Outstanding Player.
Azzi Fudd will return to UConn for another season, aiming to secure back-to-back NCAA championships and cement her legacy before a likely jump to the WNBA in 2026.
No More Hiding? The Connection With Bueckers
Over the past year, fans closely following women’s college basketball and WNBA prospects have speculated about the nature of the close friendship between Bueckers and Fudd. The two met at UConn, shared the court as teammates, and became inseparable both on and off the floor.
Subtle social media posts, inside jokes, and increasingly affectionate photos sparked rumors that their bond may be more than platonic. Those whispers turned to headlines in June 2025 when Fudd was seen sporting a phone case that boldly read: “Paige Bueckers’ girlfriend.” And most recently, Bueckers shared a telling reaction to Fudd’s look at the ESPYs on her social media.
During the Orange Carpet for the WNBA All-Star Weekend, a fan asked Bueckers a question about Azzi Fudd, during which she appeared to confirm that she is in a relationship with her former UConn Huskies teammate.
“How well do you know your D1 girlfriend?” the interviewer asked Bueckers. “Are you ready?”
“Alright,” Bueckers replied, with a big smile.
Fans quickly flooded social media with reactions. And while Bueckers didn’t outright call Fudd her significant other, she didn’t deny it, either. Only time will tell.
