The professional and personal lives of Luka Doncic have collided in a series of high-profile legal maneuvers this month, following the official end of his nine-year relationship with Anamaria Goltes.
Luka Doncic, who transitioned from the Dallas Mavericks to the Los Angeles Lakers in February 2025, has officially retained the services of Laura Wasser, the famed “Disso Queen” of Hollywood, to contest a child support petition filed in Los Angeles County.
The legal friction stems from a jurisdictional “tug-of-war” over the couple’s two young daughters, Gabriela and Olivia.
According to the court documents filed by Laura Wasser, neither Luka Doncic nor the children are legal residents of California.
While Gabriela was born in the United States in late 2023, Olivia was born in Slovenia in December 2025, a birth Luka Doncic traveled to attend despite the ongoing NBA season.
The Los Angeles Lakers star contends that Anamaria Goltes relocated back to Slovenia in May 2025 and has since “withheld” the children, prompting him to file his own family law action in the Slovenian court system in February 2026 to secure visitation rights.
Who is Laura Wasser?
Laura Wasser, known for representing icons such as Kim Kardashian, Britney Spears, and Angelina Jolie, filed a formal request on Friday to quash the petition, alleging that Anamaria Goltes is engaging in forum shopping to exploit California’s support guidelines.
Wasser’s legal strategy hinges on the fact that the children have been living in Slovenia for nearly a year, making a California court an “improper and procedurally defective” venue for a support ruling.
The filing claims that Anamaria Goltes‘ attempt to utilize the L.A. County system is a strategic financial move, despite her current residence in a mansion owned by Luka Doncic‘s mother, Mirjam Poterbin, in Slovenia.
The situation reportedly escalated into a heated confrontation at a hospital in Kranj, Slovenia, shortly after Olivia’s birth, which required police intervention but resulted in no criminal charges.
For Luka Doncic, who currently leads the NBA in scoring and has propelled the Los Angeles Lakers to the third seed in the Western Conference, the hire of a powerhouse such as Laura Wasser signals a firm stance against the California filing.
Laura Wasser, whose consultation fees exceed 750 euros per hour, is tasked with moving the proceedings entirely to Slovenia, where Luka Doncic‘s initial custody petition is already pending.
