The Hall of Fame is where the most superlative athletes in the NFL go. It is the deserved tribute after excellent careers
That’s why the NFL kicks off its season with this event, that’s why it’s news in 2025: five new immortals will be enshrined in the temple of the golden jacket in Canton, Ohio. You may be surprised to learn that the team with the most members has won only one Super Bowl. Just one
Who are the 2025 NFL Hall of Fame inductees?
With the addition of Jared Allen, Eric Allen, Antonio Gates and Sterling Sharpe, the Hall’s membership totals 378 members. Yes, 378 immortals. This figure not only includes players, but also referees, coaches, team owners and other outstanding contributors to the sport
Many would think that the teams with the most Super Bowls are the ones with the most members in their ranks, but this is not the case. The team with the most inductees into the football Olympus is the Chicago Bears with 41. Yes, that’s right. The team that has only won one award, on January 26, 1986, is the team with the most members in Canton, Ohio.
The induction ceremony will take place in Canton, Ohio, as part of the 2025 Enshrinement Festival, which this year includes concerts, exhibitions and, of course, the exhibition game between the Detroit Lions and Los Angeles Chargers that took place on Thursday, July 31
By the way, just out of curiosity, because that game doesn’t count for anything, what a beating the Chargers gave the Lions: 34-7.
Which NFL teams have the most Hall of Famers?
According to the updated count by Athlon Sports, these are the teams with the most members in the Hall, including the Class of 2025:
- Chicago Bears: 41
- Green Bay Packers: 36
- Dallas Cowboys: 32
- Pittsburgh Steelers: 32
- New York Giants: 32
- Washington: 32
Chicago has maintained its historic leadership since the stadium opened in 1963, with legends such as George Halas, Red Grange, Walter Payton, Dick Butkus and more recently, Steve McMichael, part of the class of 2024.
Top players in the class of 2025
Of all those selected in 2025, Antonio Gates is the standout. He is considered one of the greatest tight ends of all time. Also donning their gold jackets are Sterling Sharpe, a man who made a big impact with the Packers before retiring prematurely
The class is completed by Eric Allen, a legendary cornerback for the Eagles and Saints, and Jared Allen, a five-time Pro Bowler and defensive end for the Kansas City Chiefs, Minnesota Vikings, Chicago Bears and Carolina Panthers.
How are Hall of Fame members chosen?
A committee of 49 voters – including journalists, former players and analysts – meets each year to review nominees and decide who gets in. At least 80% affirmative votes are required for induction. In addition to the regular process, there are the veterans and contributors committees.
The legacy of teams is not only measured in titles, but also in immortality. And for now, the Bears are still at the top of history.
