Travis Hunter has received a warmer welcome from his teammates in the Jacksonville Jaguars than his former QB in the Colorado Buffaloes Shedeur Sanders has in the Cleveland Browns.

In his first week of Browns organized team activities (OTAs), 17-year NFL veteran Joe Flacco made it clear that he is ready to fight for Cleveland’s starting quarterback spot against the rookie Sanders. The battle in the team’s QB room seems brutal-at least from the outside.

During OTAs, we’ve seen an isolated Shedeur Sanders practicing on secondary fields and getting few team reps, far from head coach Kevin Stefanski. We’ve also seen Dillon Gabriel appear closer to Joe Flacco than Shedeur.

“Whatever Travis Hunter needs, I’ll be there”

Meanwhile, everything seems to be on track for Hunter. The two-way player has been shown plenty of love by teammates, and the latest to speak up is wide receiver Brian Thomas Jr., who recently said: “Whatever Travis Hunter needs help with, I’ll be there for him.”

At just 22 years old, Thomas is ready to pass his knowledge on to Hunter as he looks to take on a larger leadership role within the team.

“Yeah, that’s super important for me,” Thomas told reporters on Thursday, according to a transcript from the team. “That’s one of my goals: to become a better leader and be there for my teammates when they need me. That’s super important for me.”

Speaking about Hunter specifically, he said the receiver/cornerback combo is “super cool, super fun,” and later added, “He’s just a fun guy to be around. A lot of energy.”

While Thomas and Hunter are competing for a spot in Liam Coen’s offense, Thomas is more than willing to help Hunter anytime. “Yeah, he’s been asking a lot of questions. But that’s just him trying to be the best he can be,” Thomas commented. “Just talking through routes, talking through little things-plays, why we run certain plays versus certain looks. So just little things like that.”

“He wants to be the best. We both want to be the best. We just come out and compete each and every day, and whatever he needs help with, I’m glad to help him,” Thomas concluded.
