Carlos Alcaraz is looking for the only Grand Slam he has not yet won: the Australian Open. The young Spanish player has been winning at least one major a year since 2022. He started with the US Open, in 2023 he was crowned at Wimbledon, in 2024 he repeated the title in the grass-court tournament par excellence and added the French Open.
Alcaraz’s path at this Australian Open begins on Monday against Kazakhstan’s Alexander Shevchenko, ranked 72nd in the ATP rankings. It will be the second time they have met. In the first, the Spaniard won 6-2, 6-1 at the last Mutua Madrid Open. Shevchenko arrives at Melbourne Park after playing in the third edition of the United Cup (he played in the semifinals), with a record of two matches won and two lost. The match between Alcaraz and Shevchenko will be played on Monday, January 13, in the opening of the night session at Margaret Court Arena. It will be at 3:00 a.m. ET.
The main draws, drawn on Thursday, January 9, will come into play from January 12 with the first round, which runs until January 14.
