As the NFL offseason continues to unfold, one of the biggest unanswered questions surrounds veteran quarterback Aaron Rodgers.

The four-time league MVP has yet to commit to his future, with two paths reportedly on the table: signing with the Pittsburgh Steelers or stepping away from football entirely.

Rodgers at a crossroads: Steelers or retirement?

Rodgers, now 41, remains one of the most sought-after names in free agency despite his age and recent injuries.

Pittsburgh has emerged as the leading contender to sign him, but the future Hall of Famer has yet to provide a definitive answer.

While rumors and speculation swirl, both Rodgers and the Steelers remain quiet on the status of discussions.

NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport shared insight into the situation earlier this week, revealing that all signs point to a binary choice for Rodgers, the Steelers or retirement.

During an appearance on Good Morning Football, Rapoport noted that Pittsburgh has been operating as if Rodgers is their quarterback-in-waiting.

Still, the franchise has not received a formal commitment.

“They just have not gotten firm and final word from Rodgers,” Rapoport said.

“From the Steelers’ perspective, they have no choice but to wait – and they’re okay with that, as long as it ends with Rodgers under center.”

The Steelers’ current quarterback depth includes Mason Rudolph, Skylar Thompson, and rookie Will Howard.

While Rudolph and Thompson are seen as solid backups, neither is viewed as a long-term starter.

Howard, a sixth-round pick, is likely years away from being ready to lead an NFL offense.

That leaves a clear void, one the team hopes Rodgers will fill.

With elite talent like DK Metcalf, Pat Freiermuth, and rookie running back Kaleb Johnson on the roster, many believe Rodgers could elevate the Steelers to playoff contention in 2025.

Head coach Mike Tomlin remains one of the league’s most respected leaders, and the team’s defense is built to compete now.

But with each day that passes, Pittsburgh’s plan hangs in limbo.

If Rodgers ultimately walks away, the franchise may be left scrambling for answers, and critics argue the waiting game could cost them more than they realize.
