The boxing schedule ends November this Saturday from the Resorts World Arena, in Birmingham, United Kingdom, with a stellar fight between Britons Sunny Edwards and Galal Yafai, who will culminate a rivalry that began in their amateur days.

Former world champion Sunny ‘Showtime’ Edwards and Olympic gold medallist Galal Yafai will clash for the vacant World Boxing Council (WBC) interim super flyweight title in a Matchroom Boxing event.

Edwards (21-1-0) was already the 112-pound monarch in 2021, then came out on top in four defenses, until he lost the belt to Jesse ‘Bam’ Rodriguez in a unification fight, which he lost by technical knockout in December 2023.

“I know I’ve got more people in Birmingham than him, in my opinion. I was there at his last show. When I boxed in Sheffield (against Felix Alvarado in 2022), I sold more than 100, 150 tickets to people from Birmingham. That’s like one of my second cities. I’ve spent a lot of time there. I’ve got a big network there. I’ve got a lot of support from Birmingham, a lot more than people think,” Edwards told iFL TV.

Yafai (8-0-0) will be looking to keep his unbeaten record and the seventh knockout of his career, and despite being 31 years old, he only turned professional in 2002 after winning a gold medal at the Tokyo Olympics.
