This Friday the new winner of the 2025 Caribbean Series will be decided between the Leones del Escogido from the Dominican Republic and Charros de Jalisco from Mexico, in a dream final for Latin American baseball
The Leones come into this game after a dramatic extra-inning win over Cardenales de Lara of Venezuela in a game that went 11 innings, after the South American team twice tied the Caribbean side led by former major leaguer Albert Pujols.
In fact, the Dominicans withstood Venezuela’s last attempt to tie the game in the bottom of the 11th inning, when they left the bases loaded. In the first round, the Lions finished as the third seed, with a record of two wins (2-0 against Venezuela and 12-1 against Japan) and two losses (0-2 against Mexico and 7-10 against Puerto Rico).
Charros are the heavy favorites, as the only undefeated team at the moment, after winning all four of their qualifying phase games by a margin of 19 runs scored and just four received: Puerto Rico (8-1), Venezuela (2-1), Dominican Republic (2-0) and Japan (7-2).
While on Wednesday in the semifinals they defeated Puerto Rico 3-1, in a game where they took the lead from the first inning and controlled the Puerto Rican offense with great pitching
