The show delivered by the Lakers and the Mavericks during the NBA Cup game marking Anthony Davis’ return to the Crypto.com Arena was overshadowed by a fan who stole the spotlight at an unexpected moment of the matchup.
A woman made the unfortunate decision to start talking to LeBron James during a brief stretch when he had stepped off the court and taken a seat on the bench. Security personnel quickly approached and escorted her out of the arena, along with the person accompanying her.
This action was taken because she violated the arena’s code of conduct, which clearly states:
Guests who engage in disruptive behavior (including foul/abusive language or obscene gestures), fighting, throwing objects,… will be immediately ejected from the venue without refund or reimbursement.
It remains unclear what exactly the woman said to James, but the answer seems evident: whatever she said must have been offensive enough to warrant her immediate removal from the game without hesitation.
The situation drew so much attention that Jarred Vanderbilt even shifted his position to better observe what was happening with the individual being escorted out of the venue.
Despite this brief disturbance, James’ performance remained unaffected. He focused solely on delivering his trademark excellence on the court, finishing the game with 13 points, five rebounds, and seven assists.
LeBron James is known for setting boundaries with courtside fans
This is not the first time the ‘King’ has put a stop to a fan who crossed the line during a game. The list of incidents is long and only reinforces that he refuses to allow anyone to hurl offensive remarks just because they paid a high price for courtside seats.
- In 2020, during a game against the Atlanta Hawks, he confronted fans who were out of line, and security eventually escorted them out of the arena.
- In 2021, in Indiana, other fans directed inappropriate comments at him and his teammates, prompting James to request that security remove them as well.
- In the 2024 preseason, a fan refused to return the ball during a game against the Suns. The individual was escorted out by six staff members after refusing to comply.
And now, this most recent incident involving the woman who was also removed from the Lakers’ home arena. James consistently makes it clear that he will not allow anyone to be offensive toward him or toward any of his teammates, regardless of the setting.
