Vanessa Bryant praised Stephen Curry after the Golden State Warriors star honored Kobe Bryant by wearing Mambacita x Mamba sneakers during pre-game warm-ups, a gesture that drew attention as he recently ended his decade-long partnership with Under Armour.

Bryant shared footage on Instagram showing Curry in the black-and-white Kobe 6 Protro Mambacita edition as the ace guard prepared to take on the San Antonio spurs on November 15.

Vanessa added simple a caption, “Steph Curry is wearing Nike Kobes,” highlighting the tribute that connects Curry‘s gesture to Kobe’s legacy and her family.

In a second story, Vanessa posted an image of Curry warming up in the Kobe 6 Protros with a two-word tribute, “Mambacita/Mamba,” alongside a praying hands emoji. Fans interpreted the post as her public approval of Curry‘s homage to Kobe Bryant.

Curry officially ended his partnership with Under Armour on Thursday, making him a sneaker-free agent. While he can now pursue new brand deals, Under Armour will continue releasing Curry Brand products until the agreement expires in October 2026.

Although Curry wore the Kobe 6 Protros during pre-game warm-ups, he played against the Spurs in his Under Armour Curry Flow sneakers as the warm-up marked the first time since 2013 that Curry publicly wore another brand in an NBA game setting.

The four-time NBA champion left Nike in 2013 for Under Armour, establishing the Curry Brand, and while there is no confirmation on his next move, Curry could return to Nike or sign with another brand while continuing to grow his signature line and legacy.

“I know it is weird seeing me in anything other than my own shoes,” Curry said. “But the idea of what he meant, I talk about Kobe a lot and that specific pair speaks for itself for what it means.”

The tribute emphasizes Curry‘s respect for Kobe Bryant while also showing his awareness of sneaker culture in the NBA. With his new free-agent status, Curry may continue honoring Kobe through other models.

Steph Curry matches Michael Jordan’s historic record

Curry continued his exceptional form by scoring 49 points against the Spurs, two days after a 46-point performance meaning that he has tied Michael Jordan‘s record of 44 games with 40 or more points after turning 30.

A rare achievement in NBA history, the 37-year-old now joins Jordan and LeBron James as the only players over 37 to score 40-plus points in consecutive games as Curry‘s back-to-back performances underline his longevity and skill into the final stage of his career.

“When I got over that number, it was pretty cool,” Curry said. “Just from an individual accomplishment perspective to be in that type of company.

“Longevity is something I pride myself on.”

Curry made 16 of 26 field goals and nine of 17 three-pointers in his highest-scoring game this season, as his ability to score efficiently from long range highlights his continued dominance and cements his position as a top-tier scorer in the NBA.

He is also 66 of 70 on free throws this season, on course to lead the league in percentage for the sixth time. Curry‘s combination of accuracy and scoring volume keeps the Warriors competitive and reinforces his reputation as an elite offensive player.
