The newly formed Unrivaled Basketball League, set to launch in January 2025, is aiming high for its debut season.

According to recent reports, the league is actively pursuing Indiana Fever star Caitlin Clark, one of the biggest names in women’s basketball.

Can the new league woo the WNBA’s Wonder Woman?

Clark, who has just completed a stellar rookie season in the WNBA, including an All-WNBA First Team selection, is not expected to play basketball during the upcoming offseason.

In fact, Clark has stated that she intends to take a break from the game until April.

Despite this, the Unrivaled League isn’t giving up its hopes of securing the dynamic guard for its inaugural season.

The Unrivaled League made headlines this week by announcing a multi-year media rights partnership with TNT and truTV.

The deal will bring 45 primetime regular-season games to television viewers, with live coverage also available on Warner Bros. Discovery’s Max streaming platform.

The league, co-founded by prominent sports media figures David Levy and John Skipper, sees this as a major step forward in elevating women’s basketball to a new level of visibility.

Clark aims to rest during the offseason

Clark, who was recently named WNBA Rookie of the Year, has quickly become one of the sport’s most talked-about players, making her recruitment a top priority for the Unrivaled League.

However, her current plan to sit out this offseason could complicate the league’s efforts.

According to sources, Unrivaled intends to approach Clark in the coming weeks, hoping to convince her to participate in their debut season, despite her need for rest and recovery.

With the league’s first season set to tip off in Miami on January 17, it remains to be seen whether Clark will change her mind and join Unrivaled’s roster of talent.

For now, fans can only wait to see if one of the WNBA’s brightest stars will be part of this ambitious new venture.

As women’s basketball continues to grow in popularity and media attention, Unrivaled’s pursuit of a player like Caitlin Clark signals the league’s determination to make the biggest splash possible in its first year.

Whether Clark will become a part of that story is a question that will be answered in the weeks ahead.
