It was impressive, to say the least, the injury Tyreek Hill suffered on September 29, 2025, against the New York Jets in Week 4 on Monday Night Football.

The Miami Dolphins receiver had to leave on the injury cart toward the locker room and from there went straight to the hospital for evaluation. He later underwent surgery to repair the knee deviation, the torn ACL, and other damaged ligaments.

Some time after Hill’s injury, speculation arose that it could mark the end of his NFL career. Even he hinted at it, although nothing was confirmed. What is certain now is that it could become a reality due to the financial burden he represents for the South Florida franchise.

Will Tyreek Hill retire before the 2026 season?

In an interview he gave to People, Cheetah was very direct in expressing what could happen with him in the NFL, whether retirement is coming and what he might do if he decides to hang up his cleats.

It is worth remembering that the receiver has built a strong career on NFL fields, first alongside Patrick Mahomes with the Kansas City Chiefs, and for several years now enjoying the warm climate of Miami.

  • Kansas City Chiefs: 2016-2021
  • Miami Dolphins: 2022-present
  • Games played: 141
  • Receptions: 851 total
  • 11,822 receiving yards
  • 84 touchdowns
  • 902 rushing yards
  • 8 rushing touchdowns
  • 5 kickoffs or returns for touchdown
  • 97 total touchdowns

Tyreek Hill’s new skills

During this recovery stage, the Dolphins receiver said he is exploring new opportunities in case he has to retire early from the NFL. It is worth noting that he is 31 years old, but the injury he suffered last year was very serious.

Among the new skills he is developing is DJing, although for now it is more of a hobby than a profession. He would like to prepare further in that area.

So you want to know what’s crazy? I actually just came from DJ’ing. So I actually learned how to DJ two months ago and I actually DJ’ed my second time in front of a lot of people here at this Adidas event today.

It was crazy, man. A lot of people were happy,” he adds. “I feel like when I DJ, I want to make people happy. I feel like my music, I want to make people feel good. I want to make people feel like it’s a vibe. You know what I’m saying? So I learned how to DJ.

When asked whether this would be something he would pursue full-time, the receiver answered clearly and without hesitation.

Nah, not for real. It’s just something that I’m doing in the pastime,” he confirms. “I feel like I’m a guy who can do a lot, man. I love DJ’ing. I love cars, so I also got my car dealership license. I’m also trying to get back into school.

2025 was not the best year for Hill, who, in addition to the severe knee injury, was asked for a divorce by his wife in April of that year over alleged domestic issues. According to court documents obtained by TMZ, Keeta Vaccaro listed eight different incidents that included domestic violence.

For now, he continues his recovery, and over time, it will become clear how he progresses and whether the Dolphins want to keep him on the roster or release him to create flexibility for negotiations with other players.
