This Thursday, the 2025 NFL season kicks off with a game between the current champions, the Philadelphia Eagles, and the Dallas Cowboys. A day later, for the second consecutive year, Brazil will host an international game. In São Paulo, the Kansas City Chiefs – including Patrick Mahomes – will face the Los Angeles Chargers in a divisional matchup.

Last year, the Philadelphia Eagles in Brazil defeated the Green Bay Packers. The game was a resounding success, and now it’s happening again. Thus begins another season in which the Kansas City Chiefs have been under scrutiny during the offseason, especially because of the way they lost in the Super Bowl. Some believe that after nine consecutive divisional titles, this year their dominance will come to an end.

However, time has shown us that when people doubt Patrick Mahomes the most, that’s when he silences critics and responds in a big way. What is certain is that last season the offense lost explosiveness, and once again there are many doubts about that unit.

Travis Kelce is excited about his game in Brazil

For months, since it was leaked that the Kansas City Chiefs would have an international game in Brazil, Travis Kelce has been one of the most excited players. On multiple occasions, the future husband of Taylor Swift has said he is thrilled about the matchup against the Los Angeles Chargers.

For his preparation for the game, he won’t follow anyone’s footsteps, not even those of Russell Wilson, an experienced Super Bowl-winning quarterback. On the New Heights podcast, Jason Kelce, Travis’s brother, gave him the following advice: “Brother, do what Russell Wilson does – start doing high knees in the hallway, make sure you’re moving.”

In a game in London, Wilson worked on his legs for four hours before kickoff. But the tight end isn’t a fan of that routine:

“I don’t know if I’ll be doing that,” Travis Kelce responded. “But I got my Nintendo Switch 2, and I’m going to be Mario golfing.”

For now, Travis Kelce will have to focus on being an explosive player again, though that’s increasingly difficult, especially since age is unforgiving. Still, he will be crucial to the Kansas City Chiefs’ aspirations. There are rumors that this year could be Kelce’s last in the NFL.
