Travis Kelce opted to stay in Florida with Taylor Swift rather than return to Kansas City for the team’s Organized Team Activities (OTAs) on June 10. Should Chiefs fans be worried about his commitment ahead of the 2025/26 NFL season?
The tight end has been in the Sunshine State for several weeks now as he enjoys personalized preparation for what could be his final season in the sport, as well as relaxation by vacationing alongside his billionaire partner,
However, now entering his 13th NFL season, the 35-year-old has yet to report back to the Chiefs facility and although his absence from OTAs is technically permitted as the sessions are not mandatory, it has sparked some concern among some fans and observers.
The development comes after Kelce was most recently seen in Miami, arriving at a gym dressed casually in flip-flops, a T-shirt, and shorts, carrying a distinctive black-and-white patterned bag, days after attending a golf event at the Kiawah Island resort in South Carolina.
The relaxed pace of his offseason schedule has again raised eyebrows – especially with the upcoming NFL season fast approaching Adding to the attention, Kelce and Swift appeared together at a family wedding over the weekend.
The couple attended the wedding of Kelce’s cousin, Tanner Corum, in Nashville on Friday, June 6 and were photographed enjoying the event and sitting closely together during the reception, dancing in their chairs.
Days before the wedding, Travis and Taylor enjoyed a high-end dinner at Buccan, a James Beard-nominated restaurant in Palm Beach, just a short drive from Kelce’s $20 million home in Boca Raton.
The day following their dinner outing, the athlete was again spotted playing padel, a fast-growing racket sport played in an enclosed court, in a maroon shirt, mesh shorts, and a gray hat.
Is Kelce committed to the Chiefs?
While Kelce has made clear efforts to remain active during the offseason by regularly appearing at gyms and sporting events, his absence from OTAs has sparked worries there could be a shift in focus or priorities.
After more than a decade in the league and three Super Bowl titles, Travis is one of the NFL’s most accomplished players. Yet, as the Chiefs aim for another title run, questions about leadership, preparation, and team unity naturally arise.
There is currently no confirmation on whether Kelce will attend any portion of the ongoing workouts before mandatory training camp begins next month, but his colleagues are not too concerned.
“If it’s the last ride, you would never know,” Patrick Mahomes said of Kelce’s commitment to the team. “The way he’s talking about football, the way he’s talking about working and trying to be even better this year than he was last year.”
