As the Super Bowl draws near, the Kansas City Chiefs find themselves one win away from making their third consecutive trip to the big game. But before they can think about the final showdown, the Buffalo Bills stand in their way.
The Chiefs are determined to avenge their 30-21 loss to the Bills earlier in the season, a game that still stings for the team. Meanwhile, the Philadelphia Eagles are keeping an eye on the surprise contender, the Commanders, who could once again play the role of spoiler. But amidst all the playoff drama, Chiefs star Travis Kelce has a single name on his mind: Saquon Barkley.
On the New Heights Podcast, Kelce shared his thoughts on Barkley, expressing genuine concern about the Eagles‘ star running back.

“Do we know that’s the guy we need to stop?” Kelce asked.
Kelce pointed to Barkley‘s recent dominant performance against the Rams, where he finished with 26 carries, 205 yards, and a touchdown. Two explosive runs for 62 and 78 yards during the playoffs have only added to the hype.
“The guy’s just taken every game he’s in.”
Eagles have a variety of threats
But it’s not just Barkley that Kelce is worried about-the Eagles‘ offensive scheme is another cause for concern.
With their run-pass options (RPOs), tight ends sealing the edges, and wide receivers throwing crushing blocks, the Eagles have created a nightmare for opposing defenses. Despite these challenges, Kelce is confident in his Chiefs‘ defense, which has been stellar all season. Kansas City’s defense has allowed just 88.4 rushing yards per game, locking down some of the league’s best backs like Derrick Henry. Still, Kelce knows stopping Barkley won’t be easy.
“Easier said than done, obviously,” he acknowledged.
Jason Kelce, Travis’s brother and former Eagles center, may have retired, but he’s still keeping a close eye on his former team. In fact, Jason admitted on the podcast that he regretted not being able to block for Barkley.
“It sucks. I really do wish I could be out there,” Jason said.
For a player who was once the anchor of one of the NFL’s best offensive lines, it must be tough watching Barkley break records without being able to contribute directly. But the Eagles have moved on, and with Barkley in the backfield, they’re now eyeing another Super Bowl appearance.
As for Travis Kelce, he’s been on fire this postseason. In the divisional round, he recorded seven catches for 117 yards and a touchdown, further cementing his status as one of the greatest tight ends in NFL history. Since 2018, Kelce has racked up 1,727 receiving yards and 19 touchdowns in the playoffs-numbers that are Hall of Fame-worthy.
Looking ahead, the possibility of a Chiefs vs. Eagles Super Bowl is becoming more and more likely. If that matchup happens, it would be a thrilling contest between two of the NFL’s most potent teams.
