Travis Kelce says he wouldn’t get married to Taylor Swift in the Fall because it could be too close to their anniversary as the 35-year-old tight end joked they have to find a weekend when the Kansas City Chiefs aren’t in action.
The pair began dating in August/September 2023 and since then they have continued facing ever-growing calls for an engagement announcement, although neither of them have admitted anything as far as it goes.
So for the NFL player to even be discussing the idea of which month they could get married in is a notable change in pace for the couple as they enter their 17 month of dating, but the wedding won’t be happening in October he insists.
“I’ve seen weddings in f**king February,” Kelce told the New Heights podcast. “I’ve seen weddings everywhere but the Fall. So I’m not sure if the Fall was a good wedding season.”
Jason Kelce disagrees with Travis’s thoughts
The revelation comes as part of a conversation in which he jokingly told a caller to the show to dodge marrying in Fall so he doesn’t miss any of the action when the Chiefs take the field.
However, on a more serious note he did tell the caller not to pick a wedding time around the NFL season so that his wife will always know he has full attention on their anniversary and not football.
Yet there was a little bit of tension in the studio when Kelce’s older brother, Jason, told the caller to fully focus on the wedding and said that getting married is more important than any kind of football game.
“Brother, I’m going to tell you right now,” Jason told the caller. “Do the fall and the wedding and avoid this frivolous fight that means absolutely f**king nothing.
“You can watch the football game another [time], like, record it and watch it again. Like, I don’t know what you want me to say.
“There’s certain things that are more important than football, and if the wedding isn’t more important than football, we got some bigger issues here.”
