Without a doubt, it was one of the most anticipated episodes: Kylie Kelce invited her brother-in-law, Travis Kelce, to her podcast “Not Gonna Lie,” where the tight end did as he was told and spoke candidly during the conversation with his older brother Jason’s wife.
However, one notable moment caught everyone’s attention. Ky asked the Chiefs star if he remembered any conversations with his brother when she met him, but Travis’ denial did not surprise her.
Travis reveals his past conversations with his brother
Jason and Kylie Kelce have been together for over a decade. They met on Tinder in 2015 and were married in 2018, three years later. They have also formed a large family with their four daughters: Wyatt, 6, Elliotte, 4, Bennett, 2, and Finnley Anne, 8 months.
Over the years, Ky has also gotten to know her husband’s family, but she has shown a strong connection with her brother-in-law and Jason’s younger brother, Travis.
The NFL star made his debut on his sister-in-law’s podcast with great success. During the chat, Ky asked her brother-in-law if he remembered some things Jason had told him about her when they started dating, but Travis revealed a great truth about their brotherly bond:
“Me and Jason never talk about any of that stuff,” he says. “We’re just like, ‘How much do you weigh? What are you doing for recovery?’” Travis jokes back.
Ky wasn’t surprised, as she understood that this was a way of relating that brothers and men in general often share: friendships based on shared experiences, not verbal processing. In contrast, the mother of four girls said that women pay more attention and remember the small details:
“I’ll be like, ‘Did you know this happened?’ And he will say, ‘Yeah,'” Kylie revealed about her conversations with Jason. “‘What happened?’ ‘I don’t know.’ ‘Who was there?’ ‘Don’t know.’ I call them ‘girl questions.’,” she said.
When Ky mentioned Jason’s marriage proposal, Travis knew he had a plan, but not much else: “I knew what he wanted to do, but I didn’t know how he did it. I didn’t know what actually went down.”
However, Travis assured that his future wife, Taylor Swift, has made him start to improve in this regard, ensuring that he makes an effort to remember faces, conversations, and moments, because he knows that she will want to know the details later on.
Later, the 36-year-old TE said that when Jason started dating her, he was surprised by the big change he noticed in his older brother: “You were the first person I saw him actually want to team up with,” Travis tells Kylie. “You gave him a reason to be better.”
Without a doubt, this excerpt from Travis and Kylie’s conversation exposes the different ways of relating to a partner and to others, of approaching masculinity and one’s own identity, and of improving.
