Travis Kelce isn’t staying silent when it comes to the controversy surrounding Shedeur Sanders’ shocking fall in the 2025 NFL Draft. The Kansas City Chiefs tight end took a hard stance during a new episode of New Heights, the podcast he co-hosts with brother Jason Kelce, slamming the anonymous figures who questioned Sanders‘ character behind closed doors.
Widely projected as a top-10 pick, Sanders tumbled all the way to No. 144, where the Cleveland Browns finally took a chance on him. The drop came after weeks of unnamed scouts and executives criticizing the Colorado quarterback’s attitude, interview performances, and the circus-like attention that follows his father, Deion “Coach Prime” Sanders.
“Say it with your chest”
For Kelce, the issue wasn’t just about the criticism, it was the cowardice behind it. “Whoever the f-king anonymous person is that’s f-king saying this should f-king come out and say who they were,” Kelce ranted. “Like, what the f-k is that about?”
He went on to blast the use of anonymity in such serious claims, calling it “lame” and questioning its credibility: “If you’re gonna leak that type of s-t, be the one that owns it… there’s no validity to it otherwise.”
A star under pressure
Sanders has drawn headlines for more than just his talent. From his outspoken confidence to his social media presence, and the inevitable involvement of his father, many teams reportedly felt he brought “too much attention.” Rumors even suggested some coaches feared being replaced by Deion in the long run.
But Kelce clearly believes none of that justified the quarterback’s steep slide. Having faced media storms himself, he sympathized with Shedeur’s situation, saying the scrutiny felt unfair and unprofessional.
A champion with nothing to lose
Now 35, Kelce continues to speak his mind freely. Despite retirement rumors after Kansas City’s Super Bowl loss to the Eagles, he’s back for at least one more season, perhaps chasing a fourth ring. With three championships and a Hall of Fame career already secured, Kelce’s not worried about PR fallout.
