Travis Hunter is excited to display his talent, as the Jacksonville Jaguars training camp started on the right track for the sensational dual threat as a cornerback and wide receiver.
The former Heisman Trophy winner has shown his amazing skills as one of the most gifted athletes of the 2025 NFL Draft.
The expectations are high: the AFC South ended their 2024 season 4-13, ending third in the conference and just above the Tennessee Titans – who added No. 1 pick overall Cam Ward -, and the franchise is ready to turn things around with the expectation of having a winning season.
Travis Hunter gets annoyed
Ahead of training camp, Travis Hunter got in some workout time with his quarterback Trevor Lawrence – who’s coming back from an injury – and other teammates from the offensive side of the ball, including running back Travis Etienne Jr.
The wide receiver and cornerback uploaded a new video to his official YouTube channel, in which he heads to an outdoor practice area in Florida to prepare for the team’s upcoming camp. During a part of the video, Hunter revealed something to his fans: he gets annoyed because there’s another Travis on the offense, so he sometimes gets confused because of that.
While it’s only a pre-camp practice, the footage gives fans plenty to be excited about when it comes to Hunter, Lawrence, and the Jaguars‘ potential. The video even includes Jacksonville‘s quarterback getting censored when he tells Hunter they’re going to practice a specific play.
Travis is a early candidate for Offensive Rookie of the Year
Dan Parr, senior editor for NFL.com, is putting all his chips on the table for Travis Hunter getting the Offensive Rookie of the Year for the 2025 regular season. According to the analyst, the ceiling is too high for him to play it safe on the topic.
“Hunter is about to embark on a journey we have not seen any other player in the modern era successfully navigate, and if he comes anywhere close to pulling it off, I have a hard time imagining award voters won’t reward him, even if he doesn’t dominate one position the same way someone like (Ashton) Jeanty does in 2025.”
Parr added that the difference is Travis Hunter is setting out to play two spots — wide receiver and cornerback — although it seems he’s a wideout first and foremost, which is why he thinks Offensive Rookie of the Year is ultimately going to be the prize for the Jags player. “Hunter embodies belief. … He’s also a reminder that the boundaries of the game of football were built to be challenged.”
