Raiders analyst strongly opposes Pickens trade
Raiders insider Mitchell Renz has issued a strong warning against pursuing the Pittsburgh Steelers wide receiver. The speculation began when Pickens posted an Instagram story featuring a photo of himself with Tom Brady, instantly fueling trade rumors. Renz, however, believes adding Pickens would be a disastrous move for Las Vegas.
According to Renz, Pickens is more trouble than he’s worth. “The Raiders should NOT be interested in trading for the biggest diva ‘me’ guy in the NFL,” he stated, criticizing the receiver’s attitude and inconsistency on the field. He even went as far as comparing Pickens unfavorably to Davante Adams, emphasizing that his presence could disrupt the positive momentum the Raiders have built under Brady’s leadership.
Do the Steelers want to trade Pickens?
While Pickens has not publicly requested a trade, his future in Pittsburgh remains uncertain. The Steelers recently signed two-time Pro Bowler DK Metcalf, which has shifted Pickens‘ role within the team. With his 2025 salary set at $3.656 million and rumors of a costly contract extension on the horizon, the Steelers might see trading him as a viable option.
What are the Raiders’ options at WR?
Las Vegas has struggled to secure a top-tier wide receiver, missing out on key trades and signings. At this point, their options seem limited to Tyler Lockett and George Pickens. However, there has been no confirmed interest from the Raiders in pursuing Pickens beyond the social media speculation.
An alternative for the Raiders could be the upcoming NFL draft, where they hold nine picks. Prospects like Tetairoa McMillan, Emeka Egbuka, and Evan Stewart could provide long-term solutions. With offensive coordinator Chip Kelly and Pete Carroll at the helm, the team has a strong chance of developing new talent rather than taking a risk on a controversial player like Pickens.
