Antonio Pierce’s tenure as head coach of the Las Vegas Raiders has come to an end after just one full season. Promoted from interim coach last offseason, Pierce led the Raiders to a dismal 4-13 record. Las Vegas now holds the sixth pick in the upcoming NFL Draft, where they are in desperate need of a quarterback. However, it’s unlikely that top prospects like Cam Ward or Shedeur Sanders will be available by the time their pick comes around. With Pierce’s departure, the Raiders join the Jets, Jaguars, Bears, Saints and Patriots as one of six teams currently searching for a head coach.

Tom Brady’s Involvement in the Raiders’ New Head Coach

Tom Brady, a minority owner of the Raiders, is expected to play a key role in their search for a new head coach. According to reports, Brady will be part of a joint committee tasked with interviewing candidates. And frankly, who better than the GOAT to help select the next leader of this franchise? The Raiders are in desperate need of a cultural overhaul, having made just two playoff appearances in the last ten seasons, with seven of those campaigns ending with losing records.

Interestingly, while NFL rules prevent Brady from setting foot in the Eagles’ facilities, he’ll play a major role in shaping perceptions during Fox’s broadcast of the Packers vs. Eagles playoff game this weekend. Brady will also be close to the Eagles and Packers coaches at Lincoln Financial Field on game day, adding intrigue to the situation. It wouldn’t be surprising to see Eagles offensive coordinator Kellen Moore emerge as a candidate for the Raiders’ vacancy this offseason or even Rich Bisaccia, the assistant head coach in Green Bay who previously was an interim head coach for the Raiders.

The Raiders face an uphill battle in the AFC West, a division where the Chiefs and Patrick Mahomes have reigned supreme for nine consecutive seasons. Meanwhile, the Chargers are gaining traction under Jim Harbaugh, and Bo Nix has shown early promise in Denver. Unfortunately, this leaves the Raiders as the weakest link in a highly competitive division. To make matters worse, the franchise hasn’t had consecutive winning seasons since 2001-2002, a stark reminder of the mediocrity that has plagued them for more than two decades.
