Tim Tebow and his wife Demi-Leigh welcomed a new member to their family: their first daughter.
The 37-year-old former NFL player and his partner of more than five years welcomed the little girl on Sunday, July 6, and shared the happy news on Instagram the following day.
The couple celebrated their daughter’s life with two posts on their official accounts. In the first post, the couple shared seven photos announcing the baby’s arrival and thanking the medical staff and their families and friends, but they did not reveal her name.
However, in the second post, the baby’s mother wrote alongside 10 images: “We’ve been so excited to share this with you… Meet our daughter, Daphne Reign Tebow.”
The meaning of Tim and Demi-Leigh’s daughter’s name
In a lengthy text, Demi-Leigh explained that she never met her mother’s mother, but her sister, “Daphne,” was like a grandmother to her and she wanted to honor her memory.
She also revealed that shortly after marrying Tim, when she shared her story with her husband, he loved the name and agreed to name the little girl that.
As for “Reign,” Demi-Leigh wrote: “Her name reminds us that when you’re adopted into God’s family, you become a child of the King. You were made to rule and reign-not in power, but in purpose, love, and identity.“
In addition, in the last photo, the couple shared a card with information about their newborn: she weighed 8.85 pounds at birth and was 21 inches long.
The Tebows met in 2018, while Tim was trying to break into his career as an NFL commentator and minor league baseball player, after his stint as quarterback for the New York Jets, New England Patriots, Philadelphia Eagles, and Jacksonville Jaguars.
A year earlier, Demi-Leigh was crowned Miss Universe after being elected Miss South Africa. The two got engaged in 2019 and married a year later, in 2020.
Now, they will embark on a new journey together: that of being parents to Daphne Reign Tebow.
