Sam Woods is a huge sports fan, whether it’s golf or soccer. She has an unconditional love of competition running through her veins, just like her father, Tiger.

Her father is a golf legend who instilled in her a love for the sport, but Sam opened the doors to soccer with a tremendous desire to excel and not just be “Tiger Woods’ daughter,” but to forge her own path to glory on her own merits.

And she is certainly leaving those attempts to mock her with nicknames in the past, as Sam proudly finished her high school career by leading her soccer team to the Florida state championship, while also excelling as a two-sport athlete, as she also loves to play golf.

Sam has focused on soccer and track, excelling with state podium finishes in 2024 and will continue to compete this season. Golf, her father’s greatest passion, is just a hobby for her, as she does not seem to be interested in competition.

Sam Woods, soccer and track lover

In the final stretch of the track and field season, the Benjamin High School boys and girls teams, along with Sam Woods, are advancing to the state meet after winning two district championships. The event will be held May 9-10 at Hodges Stadium in Jacksonville.

With outstanding talent in multiple sports, Sam Woods has made a name for himself in both track and football. On the track, he finished third in the 100-meter hurdles (17.12 seconds), second in the 400-meter hurdles (1:09.91), second in the 4×400 relay (4:01.60) and first in the 4×800 relay (10:28.29).

In soccer, she has scored 8 goals and added 12 assists in 55 games, and in the 2024-2025 season, she already has 1 goal and 1 assist in 8 games. With this level of play, Sam is poised to excel in the State Championship while continuing to be a pillar of support for her father during difficult times.

She was also instrumental in the win as captain and defender of her team, something that meant a lot to her father, who was grieving the loss of his mother, Kultida. Tiger found happiness and pride in seeing the tremendous competitive spirit he had passed on to his daughter.
