In a world where anything seems possible, the Los Angeles Dodgers might be on the verge of acquiring not only one of the best bullpen arms on the market, but also the reigning Cy Young-winning ace starter – a move that would make them even heavier favorites to win the next World Series.

This is what the Dodgers would look like with Tarik Skubal and Shohei Ohtani in their rotation

Just yesterday we were talking about Edwin Díaz arriving in LA on a three-year, $69 million deal, but now the conversation has shifted to none other than Tarik Skubal, who finds himself, so to speak, in a dead-end situation in Detroit.

The Tigers want to keep him, but if they can’t, they also want to maximize the return in a trade that would shake all of MLB.

According to a report by Davis Pingalore of KTLA, the Dodgers and Tigers have reportedly reached an agreement to complete the trade for Skubal – the pitcher who just repeated as American League Cy Young winner – in exchange for a package of high-level players.

While many have labeled this move as pure smoke, at this point absolutely anything feels possible.

Where would Tarik Skubal slot into the Dodgers’ rotation?

With rumors flying everywhere, people are already speculating what the starting rotation would look like in Los Angeles, especially knowing that Tyler Glasnow could be part of the package heading to Detroit.

Possible rotation:

  1. Tarik Skubal
  2. Yoshinobu Yamamoto
  3. Shohei Ohtani
  4. Blake Snell
  5. Roki Sasaki / Dustin May / other

The Dodgers are used to making these kinds of blockbuster moves, even though many experts believe Dave Roberts‘ team has no need for another frontline starter. But who in their right mind would say no to adding Tarik Skubal to that rotation? Exactly – nobody.

The reported trade package could include pitchers Tyler Glasnow and Emmett Sheehan, plus top prospect Zyhir Hope, though there is still no official information or statement from either team involved.
