According to The Sporting News, Kyle Schwarber is set to get a mega contract extension worth $110 million. He has taken off this season and has become the closest competitor to Shohei Ohtani in the race for the Most Valuable Player (MVP) award, as free agency approaches.

His career year has been incredible to watch, but it’s also making it increasingly difficult for the Phillies to retain him, as he is set to become a free agent after 2025,” wrote Matt Davis of TBOH.

“More recently, J.D. Martinez signed a five-year, $110 million contract with the Red Sox in the spring of 2018 as he entered his age-30 season,” wrote Mark Feinsand of MLB.com.
