No reps with the team, legal issues, and various other problems are currently affecting Cleveland Browns quarterback Shedeur Sanders. The former Colorado Buffaloes QB is struggling to catch Kevin Stefanski’s eye in hopes of earning a shot to practice with the first team – but that opportunity seems far off.
Most believe Kevin Stefanski will go with Joe Flacco as the Cleveland Browns’ QB1 to start the season, especially since the two already know each other and Flacco has experience in the Browns’ system. However, just a few weeks ago, Browns receiver Diontae Johnson leaked that Stefanski was leaning toward Kenny Pickett.
What seems certain is that the starting job will come down to Joe Flacco and Kenny Pickett. That doesn’t mean Dillon Gabriel or Shedeur Sanders have no chance – but they’ll have to wait for one of the veterans to drop off in performance, a scenario that doesn’t seem too far-fetched given the limited talent around them.
Shedeur Sanders is not favored by betting houses to be the Browns’ starter.
At this point, everything surrounding the Cleveland Browns’ quarterback situation is speculation. However, the sportsbook FanDuel recently released its odds on who will win the starting job under head coach Kevin Stefanski, and the clear favorite is Joe Flacco.
No surprise, Flacco leads with -102 odds, followed by Kenny Pickett at +200, Dillon Gabriel at +500, and Shedeur Sanders way behind at +870.
Still, for being the fourth option on the Browns, Shedeur Sanders isn’t ranked that badly compared to others. FanDuel lists Jameis Winston at +1300 for New York, Riley Leonard at +8000 for Indianapolis, and Jake Haener at +4000 for New Orleans.
Odds change daily, but one thing is certain – Shedeur Sanders, before the draft where he went undrafted, probably never imagined he’d end up in such a difficult situation. He’s the last option on a team as unstable as the Browns.
