Buffalo Bills quarterback Josh Allen has officially secured one of the most lucrative deals in NFL history, signing a six-year, $330 million contract extension. The agreement includes a record-setting $250 million in guaranteed money, solidifying his status as one of the highest-paid athletes in professional football.
However, despite the eye-popping numbers, Allen remains remarkably unfazed by the financial windfall, keeping his focus on the game and his future.
No plans to splurge on an even bigger ring
With his recent contract extension, some fans speculated that Allen might look to upgrade his fiancée Hailee Steinfeld‘s engagement ring. During a live interview with 7 News WKBW, a reporter playfully asked whether he planned to invest in a larger diamond ahead of their wedding.
“Maybe a bigger ring with the wedding coming up?” the reporter inquired.
Allen, flashing a grin, quickly dismissed the notion: “Uh, nah, I think she likes the one she’s got.”
According to PEOPLE, GIA-certified gemologist Olivia Landau estimates that Steinfeld‘s 3.5- to 4-carat engagement ring is worth between $70,000 and $150,000, depending on whether the diamond is natural or lab-grown.
While the traditional “three months’ salary” rule suggests that someone of Allen‘s wealth should be spending around $13.75 million on a ring, the quarterback appears to see no reason to follow such extravagant expectations.
A practical approach to wealth
While Allen’s contract sets a new standard for guaranteed money in the league, his annual salary of $55 million still falls just shy of the $60 million per year earned by Dallas Cowboys quarterback Dak Prescott. But rather than concerning himself with financial rankings, Allen remains content with what he has.
“It’s weird to say this, but what is $5 [million] more going to do for my life that I can’t already do right now?” Allen reflected. “It’s not that crazy to me. I live a pretty good life: Got a house, got a car, we’re good.”
With the deal finalized and his financial future secured, Allen can now shift his attention to what truly matters-continuing to elevate his game and delivering success to the Bills franchise.
