New York Yankees and the Los Angeles Dodgers could soon be in a serious battle to sign a player.

The teams that played in the last MLB World Series would face off off the field in the Major League Baseball offseason.

Which player could the Yankees and Dodgers be in serious contention for soon?

According to Steve Adams of MLB Trade Rumors, if Bo Bichette, the Toronto Blue Jays shortstop, maintains his current offensive production, which has a line of .307/.352/.477 with 177 hits, 42 doubles and 18 home runs, leading the American League in hits, once again proving that he is a top-tier offensive shortstop, he could be looking for a contract in free agency worth $200 million or more.

The New York Yankees and Los Angeles Dodgers’ shortstop needs

Both the New York Yankees and the Los Angeles Dodgers have needs at shortstop after the poor performances of Anthony Volpe and Mookie Betts. This is where Bo Bichette could be the solution to that need.

According to Christopher Kline of Fansided, that failure makes Bo Bichette, the Toronto Blue Jays shortstop, a perfect target for the New York Yankees to stabilize the left side of the infield alongside Ryan McMahon. He can take advantage of the dimensions of Yankee Stadium and would deepen the New York Yankees lineup offensively by supporting Aaron Judge and Jazz Chisholm.

Additionally, signing Bo Bichette would strategically weaken a divisional rival. Kline added: “If there’s still any part of him that’s unhappy with the situation in Toronto-around this time last season, there were reports about Bo Bichette‘s discontent in the clubhouse-what better organization is there to start his second chapter than the New York Yankees?”

But Kline also included the Los Angeles Dodgers and their “resources as endless” in the conversation for Bo Bichette, noting that “they set their sights on just about any star available”. The Dodgers could move Mookie Betts to left and put Bo Bichette at shortstop, incorporating him into an infield that already includes Freddie Freeman, Max Muncy and Ha-Seong Kim.
