New England Patriots owner Robert Kraft and former franchise legend Tom Brady opened headlines at the REFORM Alliance Casino Night and Gala after Kraft made a $900,000 bid to play a game of golf against Brady.

The annual gala, held at the Ocean Casino Resort, welcomed celebrities, sporting athletes, and philanthropists to the event, among others, to raise funds for criminal justice reform.

An evening full of stars

The event was filled with multiple celebrities in the guests list, like Jay-Z, Beyoncé, Meek Mill, Travis Scott, Devin Booker, and Michael Rubin. The attendees enjoyed live performances, casino activities, and a collection of VIP auctions that raised $20 million for the REFORM Alliance.

Exclusive merchandise was sold too, including an exclusive Megan Thee Stallion performance for $600,000, a one-of-a-kind George Condo painting bought by Rubin for $3.4 million, and a customed Audemars Piguet watch designed for Jay-Z.

The golf trip

Brady’s golf round proved to be one of the gala’s most wanted moments besides flashy luxury. Kraft had purchased the round with his $900,000 offer. To everyone’s surprise, a tying bid was placed. Instead of prolonging the bidding war, Brady, who participated virtually over Zoom, agreed to the tie, converting the auction into a $1.8 million donation to the REFORM Alliance.

Established by Meek Mill in 2019, the REFORM Alliance targets probation and parole reform advocacy, desiring to lower incarceration and introduce fair treatment within the justice system. The gala funds will be donated to programs that promote systemic reforms and a second chance for those who have been affected by the criminal justice system.

A night full of generosity

The event showcased the way that star power can be converted into constructive giving. Kraft’s donation, Brady’s appearance, and the donations of other attendees show the strength of philanthropy to create change in the real world, combining star power with social cause.

People say that ‘known philanthropy is not philanthropy‘, but regardless from these ‘potential accurate’ views, it is better to give than to accumulate, and at the end of the day, that moeny will go to legit needs.
