Recent multi-million dollar deals have brought the World Series champion Los Angeles Dodgers bullpen to Tanner Scott and Kirby Yates, but far from helping, it seems that these moves have complicated the formation of their pitching staff, as it is known that they can only incorporate a certain number of players.

However, everything remains to be seen and before making any move, both pitchers will have to pass medical examinations, so they have not been added to the roster, which is expected to see the return of Clayton Kershaw, so the number of available spots is set at one.

In the midst of this scenario, the possibility of trading Ryan Brasier and his high salary of $4.5 million is seriously being considered, according to Bob Nightengale of USA Today

Why would Brasier be the ‘sacrificed’?

According to Nightengale, Brasier is ideal for the eventual move, because although he had a very good campaign in 2023, in the season that just ended, the pitcher experienced some ups and downs thanks to a calf strain that put him at the top of the cut list. In 29 games in which the right-handed pitcher participated in 2024, he had a 3.54 ERA and a strikeout/walk ratio of 25/5

In his analysis, the journalist from the aforementioned media outlet states that on the surface, Brasier’s trade looks delicate for the Angels, but also states that both Scott and Yates have what it takes to make up for the absence of the right-hander, not to mention the luxury starting rotation they boast at Chavez Ravine, which in theory should cushion this impact on the relievers.

And the apparent complication comes at a good time for the Dodgers to start shutting down their wallet, which is still smoking.
