Last night, the Dodgers beat the Tigers 7-3. This win means they’ve now won all five of their first games this season. That’s a 5-0 record! This includes the two games they played in Tokyo against the Chicago Cubs. They’re starting the 2025 season really strong, just like you’d expect from the current World Series champions.
Even though Roki Sasaki didn’t pitch for very long, just one and two-thirds innings, the Dodgers’ bullpen did a great job. They kept the Tigers from scoring, which helped the Dodgers win. And with the 7 runs they scored last night, they’ve now scored 30 or more runs in just five games. This shows they’re a really strong offensive team, like we’ve seen them be before.
On top of scoring lots of runs, the Dodgers’ offense has been really patient at the plate. They’ve walked 20 or more times in these five games, and they’ve also hit 10 or more home runs. This shows they’re one of the best offensive teams in the National League right now. And with players like Shohei Ohtani, the Japanese star, plus Freddie Freeman, Mookie Betts, Max Muncy, Will Smith, and Teoscar Hernández, it’s easy to see why.
The Dodgers’ pitchers have been striking out a lot of batters, too. They’ve recorded 55 or more strikeouts in these five games. Plus, their defense has been perfect, with zero errors. No other team in Major League Baseball has ever had such a strong performance in both offense and defense over a five-game stretch in a season.
When you look at the Dodgers’ pitching staff, it’s easy to see why they’re so strong. This season, they’ve got Shohei Ohtani back, and they’ve added two more Japanese stars, Roki Sasaki and Yoshinobu Yamamoto. Then you’ve got Tyler Glasnow, Blake Snell, and Kirby Yates. That’s a really impressive group of pitchers. For me, it looks like the best starting rotation in all of Major League Baseball.
And let’s not forget about Tommy Edman. He’s been on fire! He hit 13 home runs in 153 games, which is a career high for him. Now, he’s started this season with 3 home runs in just 5 games. It’s almost unbelievable that the Dodgers were able to sign him so easily. The guy’s production, both hitting and fielding, is just amazing. They got a real steal there.
