Dak Prescott, the highest-paid quarterback in the entire NFL, has had a truly disappointing performance for the Dallas Cowboys. However, the Texas team may have a secret weapon that could help him regain the elite level that many believe he deserves and has the ability to deliver.

In December 2024, the Dallas Cowboys confirmed a bleak season in the NFL by losing any chance of qualifying for the playoffs two weeks before the end of the regular season. They already knew they were eliminated from postseason contention without even having played their Week 16 game against the Miami Dolphins.

Dallas’ Secret Weapon That Could Help Dak Prescott

After being named to the Pro Bowl in 2023, last season was disappointing for Dallas tight end Jake Ferguson. But it may not have been all his fault. In a recent article by Bleacher Report’s Moe Moton, he lists the players he believes are ready to bounce back in 2025.

“With the Cowboys’ uninspiring running back group, expect Prescott to perform well through the air for stretches of the next half,” Moton wrote. “He’ll have enough targets to go around, and Ferguson can regain his Pro Bowl form“.

Cowboys quarterback Dak Prescott missed a good portion of the season due to a hamstring injury, playing only eight games. It’s no coincidence that this was when Ferguson was receiving his most consistent passes.

The 26-year-old tight end finished the 2023 season with 761 yards and five touchdowns, very solid numbers for a second-year tight end. However, last season, he received nearly 20 fewer passes. But the hope is that his quarterback can stay on the field and throw him the ball in 2025.
