Travis Kelce appears in Happy Gilmore 2, Netflix’s follow-up to the 1996 sports comedy classic, and a behind-the-scenes clip from the set has quickly become a viral talking point.

The Kansas City Chiefs star appears shirtless as Bad Bunny‘s character ties him to a chair and smears him with honey, only for someone in a bear suit to step into frame as the NFL veteran lets out a panicked yell.

The moment sent the cast and crew into hysterics, with Adam Sandler, who reprises his role as Happy Gilmore and serves as a producer, seen laughing in the background at the absurd setup.

Kelce plays a strict country club boss opposite Bad Bunny‘s golf caddy Oscar Mejias, creating one of the film’s most outrageous sequences.

Sandler praised Kelce‘s easygoing nature on set, noting that the tight end immediately fit the tone of the movie.

“Travis is such a gentle, nice guy, and funny as hell,” Sandler told Entertainment Tonight. “He’s like the guys I grew up with. When I was with Travis, it reminded me of my buddies in high school and just being able to laugh and say the things you want to say.”

A crossover moment for Kelce and Sandler’s family

The cameo adds to Kelce‘s growing pop culture profile, especially following his high-profile relationship with Taylor Swift.

Sandler also revealed that Swift has a personal connection to his family. His daughters Sadie and Sunny, who both appear in the new film, first met the singer at the Los Angeles premiere of her Eras Tour concert movie in 2023.

“Taylor is incredible,” Sandler said. “Taylor is so damn nice to my family and has always been. My kids have met Taylor a bunch of times over the years, and she’s ridiculously nice to them and warm.”

Happy Gilmore 2 picks up years after the original story, finding Happy as a widower wrestling with grief and alcohol while attempting a comeback on the golf course to fund his daughter Vienna’s ballet ambitions overseas. Sunny Sandler plays Vienna in a casting choice that adds a personal touch to the sequel.
