While some experts, including legends like Julio Cesar Chavez and Mikey Garcia, believe Crawford’s smaller size will be a significant obstacle, others are holding onto the belief that his technical prowess could negate the physical difference.

And in a recent post on his Instagram, the American, who is a two-division undisputed champion, shared a video of his first workout in quite some time as the 37-year-old fighter working diligently in the gym, hinting at his readiness for the challenge that lies ahead.

He showcased his lightning quick footwork and expert manouvering that he will hope allows him to throw some crisp and snappy shots against Canelo, who is known for his durability and persistent pressure fighting style.

Crawford favors brains over brawn

The primary concern surrounding Crawford’s preparation has been his weight gain as he steps up to take on the 34-year-old from Mexico as he must hit a career-high 160lbs lbs if he aims to make weight.

Mikey Garcia, in particular, expressed his doubts by suggesting that the extra weight could hinder the two-weight undisputed champion’s fast footwork, which many view as his greatest asset. However, Crawford’s recent workout video seems to address these concerns.

“I hear em talking,” Crawford says in the video. “Just know that. Feels good to be back in the gym.

This insight into his strategy indicates that he is aware that his best chance to win is through his technical abilities, footwork, and ring intelligence, rather than relying solely on physical strength.
