After Golden Boy Promotions announced the cancellation of the exhibition fight between Ryan Garcia and Japan’s Rukiya Anpo, Oscar de la Hoya is keeping an eye on the many options that ‘KingRy’ has to get into the ring when he completes his one-year suspension for his positive test for ostarine after the fight with Devin Haney.
A potential fight between Teofimo Lopez and Garcia looms faintly on the horizon, for although ‘KingRy’ is unavailable, ‘The Takover’ has already set his sights on him for his next foray into the ring, after fights with Jamaine Ortiz and Steve Claggett that left no one satisfied, not even the Brooklyn native.
Both want to fight in 2025
Lopez himself has also had Garcia in his sights for some time and a fight between the two seems possible in 2025. Meanwhile, the WBO champion is almost on the phone to ask Oscar De La Hoya for a fight and he told Little Giant Boxing: “Well, right now, Ryan doesn’t have a fight. I’ll see if I call Oscar later, to see what happens.”
For his part, Garcia told Fight Hub that he is willing to fight in the ring with Teofimo Lopez: “I can go down to 140 pounds to give him a chance.”
