Taylor Swift‘s early enthusiasm for Xavier Worthy has proven justified, as the Kansas City Chiefs wide receiver is quickly establishing himself as a central figure in Patrick Mahomes‘ offensive plans.

Mahomes‘ latest remarks confirmed just how significant Worthy has become to the reigning champions as he starred during the team’s 37-20 blowout victory over Lamar Jackson’s Baltimore Ravens on September 28.

The Chiefs‘ quarterback praised the youngster’s contribution after Sunday’s game, noting how his speed and versatility have reshaped the offense as he returned from injury and gave KC an added dimension and created opportunities across the field.

“Yeah, he’s [Worthy] just so explosive,” Mahomes said. “You just see it when you get the football in his hands, the defenses have to adjust.

“And when they adjust, he gets so much attention on his other guys can make plays happen.

“Just having him out there, not only for his physical ability but just the morale of the room, I thought it was huge.”

The 22-year-old’s production reflected his growing impact. He recorded 83 receiving yards and added 38 rushing yards, continuing to showcase a multifaceted skill set that stretches defenses and allows Kansas City to distribute the ball more effectively.

Mahomes connected with four different receivers for touchdowns, and he credited Xavier’s presence for helping make that possible as he also emphasized his physical development and ability to handle a larger role within the offense.

“I think you saw at the end of last year, he’s not just this fast receiver that can run down the field,” Mahomes said. “He’s gained weight, and he’s kept his speed, and he showed that he can be a guy that can do everything.

“I think last year was so pivotal in having him be in a bigger role – obviously, with injuries and stuff like that, he had the injury at the beginning of the year.

“But this was the role that we expected him to be in, and he showcased it today.”

Taylor Swift’s early endorsement of Worthy is proven right

The emergence of Worthy has not only caught Mahomes’ attention but also validated Taylor Swift‘s instincts. Long before the wideout’s breakout performances, Swift celebrated Kansas City’s decision to select him in the first round of the 2024 NFL Draft.

Speaking on the New Heights podcast hosted by Travis and Jason Kelce in 2025, Swift described her excitement on draft night when the team selected the speedster, who has shades of Tyreek Hill about him.

“I fell in love with it, I became obsessed it,” Swift said. “I became a person who was running through the halls of my house screaming, ‘We drafted Xavier Worthy!’

“And my friends were like, ‘Who bodysnatched you? What do you mean we drafted Xavier Worthy?’

“I was screeching, I couldn’t believe it.”
