An image of Taylor Swift dressed as Dorothy from The Wizard of Oz has sent shockwaves through her fanbase and ignited widespread speculation about her role in the upcoming Wicked: For Good movie alongside Cynthia Erivo and Ariana Grande. But is it real?

The supposed “first look” of the 35-year-old pop superstar as the iconic character surfaced online alongside the new trailer for the movie, captivating Swifties worldwide and across social media.

The image depicted Swift sporting Dorothy‘s signature blue gingham dress and braided hair tied with blue ribbons, set against a backdrop featuring the Emerald City and the famed yellow brick road.

“Dorothy, who will be played by Taylor Swift in WICKED: FOR GOOD,” the post on X.com (formerly Twitter) introducing the star as the iconic character from Kansas and reactions poured in swiftly.

One fan commented, “I mean why not? She can do it.” A second said, “OMGG this is why she didn’t do the re-recordings of Reputation because she’s filming Wicked: For Good.”

And a third noted, “OMG, Taylor Swift as Dorothy?! This is HUGE! I’m so excited, I can barely contain myself! That’s such a fantastic casting choice.”

Is Taylor Swift really in Wicked: For Good?

However, sadly for fans hoping to see the 35-year-old Grammy-winning artist on the big screen, they have been duped by a parody account on Elon Musk‘s social media app. Pob Base, a parody of Pop Base, used generative AI to create the image and pull off the trick.

There is no official announcement of Swift appearing in the movie, and the account also made that clear to avoid any sort of legal action in response.

Wicked: For Good is scheduled for release on November 21, following the first film’s premiere roughly a year prior with Grande and Erivo reprising their roles as the Glinda and Elphaba (the Wicked Witch of the West).

Is Taylor Swift pregnant? Swifties fooled again?

This is not the first recent instance where Taylor Swift‘s fans were deceived by misleading images as rumors swirled that Swift was expecting a child after she was seen in New York appearing to have a baby bump.

The speculation was fueled by an optical illusion as the Eras Tour star’s black mini-dress blended with the dark-colored car behind her, creating the illusion of a pregnant belly in the Big Apple.

However, the the rumor was quickly debunked and any users found humor in the confusion as Swift spent time in Manhattan with her close friend, Selena Gomez, while her boyfriend, the Kansas City Chiefs‘ star, Travis Kelce, attended a charity event in Kansas City.

Swift appeared to honor Kelce by wearing a custom gold and diamond tennis friendship bracelet engraved with the letters “TNT,” a gift from Kelce, as reported by TMZ.
