After a humbling in Super Bowl LIX, Travis Kelce has decided to come back to the Kansas City Chiefs — potentially, for “one last dance“. The 35-year-old, a three-time Super Bowl champion, didn’t want his 200th career game — a 40-22 loss to the Philadelphia Eagles — to be his last, and so he is returning for one more crack at the Lombardi Trophy in 2025.
But where does that leave Taylor Swift? The pop music sensastion and Kelce‘s ever-supportive girlfriend has been a regular fixture at Arrowhead Stadium over the past two years — and her presence has made the NFL more money than ever, leading to a salary cap spike that has benefitted each of the league’s 32 franchises. However, as engagement and marriage rumors swirl, fans are wondering whether Swift approves of Kelce’s choice to come back to the Chiefs.
Swift unsure as Kelce returns for 13th NFL season
According to Radar Online, Swift had been “gripped with fear” over Kelce’s decision — and since he has decided to play at least one more year in pro football, the tension in the couple’s relationship could escalate as they continue to live their lives apart.
“If Travis does retire, it could drastically change his and Taylor‘s lives together,” an insider said. “He would be around far more – and who knows, she may start to get sick of him!”
Swift, 35, has sold millions of records and broke revenue records on her globe-spanning Eras Tour, which took place between 2023 and 2024. But it is no secret that at some point, she wants to “settle down”, and the jeers she received at the Super Bowl took a toll on her — especially as Kelce did not publicly defend her.
“They both really miss each other when he’s off training or jet-setting around the country for games,” the insider said. “But on the flip-side there is the danger they would then be spending too much time together and they both know this can spell the death of a relationship.”
And so, the romance that has captivated America develops a new dimension, and one of the dominant narratives of the next NFL season: will Kelce cap his career with a championship? Or will chasing ring #4 cost him the love of his life? Only time will tell.
