Taylor Swift and Travis Kelce are preparing for a peaceful festive season that revolves entirely around family and simplicity.
“It will be very low-key, family-centric and [won’t involve any] major travel,” an insider shared with Us Weekly, describing how the pair intend to spend the holidays.
Sources close to them say Swift, 35, and Kelce, 36, plan to divide their time between their families. The Kansas City Chiefs player is also balancing a demanding football schedule, with games falling on both Thanksgiving and Christmas.
“Travis fits right in with her family, and Taylor adores [his mom] Donna. They talk all the time,” the source added. “They make sure to see both sides as often as they can. They are super family-oriented, and they have always loved that about one another.”
A calm first holiday season as an engaged couple
This year marks Swift and Kelce’s first holiday season since their engagement, which they announced in August after two years of dating. Kelce proposed in the backyard of their home following a summer spent traveling together.
“With both of their high-profile careers, it feels good to have simplicity and normalcy together,” a friend close to the couple said. Another source added, “Taylor and Travis are really chill. On a typical night in, they’re usually having dinner and figuring out what to stream. It’s very domestic and calm.”
In August, Swift appeared on Kelce and his brother Jason’s “New Heights” podcast, where Kelce said it has “been so fun” to see what the singer “actually gets into around the house.”
Swift spoke about her old-fashioned hobbies, saying, “I’d say all my hobbies could be categorized as, like, hobbies you could have had in the 1700s, you know? Like, I get on my granny s***. We’re very deep in a sourdough obsession that has taken over my life.”
Later that month, Kelce told GQ, “Whenever I’m with her, it feels like we’re just regular people. When there is not a camera on us, we’re just two people that are in love.”
Even with Kelce’s busy NFL schedule and Swift’s recent album release, The Life of a Showgirl, the couple are also organizing their wedding plans.
“They are both [very] involved, and Taylor thinks it’s cute that Travis wants to help,” an insider revealed.
They hope to marry next summer, possibly in Rhode Island, where Swift owns a beachside home.
“They don’t want a long engagement,” the source said, adding that Swift and Kelce “very much want to start a family in the next year or so. Family means everything to them.”
