The wedding of Taylor Swift and Travis Kelce is shaping up to be one of the biggest celebrity weddings of 2026. The high-profile couple has dominated headlines, and new details have emerged about where they plan to say “I do.”
Wedding plans take a surprising turn
According to Page Six, save-the-date invitations have already been sent out for the pop superstar and the Kansas City Chiefs tight end.
The ceremony is reportedly set for July 3 in New York City – a move that caught many off guard, as the couple was widely expected to marry in Rhode Island, where Swift owns a luxury waterfront estate.
Earlier reports suggested the pair scrapped those plans in favor of a much larger venue capable of hosting a star-studded guest list. Among the expected attendees are major names like Beyoncé, Jay-Z, Hailey Bieber, Justin Bieber, Mariah Carey, Tommy Mottola, Sarah Jessica Parker, Matthew Broderick, Catherine Zeta-Jones and Michael Douglas.
Why New York makes perfect sense
July 4 has long been one of Taylor Swift’s favorite holidays, and in 2026 it carries even more significance as it marks the 250th anniversary of the United States.
Swift also has deep ties to New York City. In 2014, she purchased two adjacent penthouses in Tribeca and transformed them into a massive luxury duplex. She later expanded her footprint by acquiring the neighboring townhouse and a 3,500-square-foot loft in the same building.
That same year, she released “Welcome to New York”, a song widely seen as a love letter to NYC, and served as the city’s global welcome ambassador from 2014 to 2015, helping promote New York tourism.
In 2016, she temporarily lived on Cornelia Street while her Franklin Street property underwent renovations – an experience that later inspired a track on her 2019 album Lover.
Today, Swift is frequently seen enjoying NYC’s luxury lifestyle, dining at exclusive restaurants and spending time with her inner circle. Meanwhile, Travis Kelce has also embraced the city’s energy, nightlife and fast pace, making New York a fitting backdrop for what could be the wedding of the year.
