Taylor Swift once joked that she and Travis Kelce would never be “psychotic enough to hard launch a first date.” By the time fans saw her in a Kansas City Chiefs suite in 2023, she insisted, the relationship was already real.
“By the time I went to that first game, we were a couple,” Swift told TIME in a December 2023 profile. “I think some people think that they saw our first date at that game? We would never be psychotic enough to hard launch a first date.”
That mindset has defined their partnership ever since. This week, the couple brought that same energy to New York City, where they were photographed entering Chez Margaux hand in hand on February 25, according to images published by gossip site DeuxMoi.
Their relationship has always operated at that intersection of spectacle and normalcy. Both careers revolve around NFL stadiums. Swift reflected on that shared rhythm in her End of an Era docuseries, which aired on Disney+ in December 2025.
“It’s shocking how many similarities we have towards our jobs and how we view them and how we view each other,” Swift said in her End of an Era docuseries.
“We both have jobs where we both go out in NFL stadiums and we entertain people for three and a half hours. His with considerably more violence than mine, but he’s not in heels. But it’s our passion. We’ve been chasing this since we were little kids.
“I don’t think I ever thought I’d meet a guy who had that same trajectory. And I’ve realized with this person in my life that just was the right fit for me, you can have the two passions coexist and they actually fuel each other. Ultimately, we love cheering each other on. That’s rad.”
A romance that never tried to stay hidden
Swift has been clear that visibility is not something they fear. She explained the philosophy behind that openness in the same TIME interview.
“When you say a relationship is public, that means I’m going to see him do what he loves, we’re showing up for each other, other people are there and we don’t care,” Swift noted. “The opposite of that is you have to go to an extreme amount of effort to make sure no one knows that you’re seeing someone. And we’re just proud of each other.”
Kelce has mirrored that commitment, attending numerous Eras Tour shows across the United States and internationally between NFL commitments. Their public appearances have become less about headlines and more about consistency.
The couple’s story reached a new chapter in August 2025 when Kelce proposed with a custom Kindred Lubeck diamond ring.
