Morgan Riddle, the longtime girlfriend of tennis star Taylor Fritz, is no stranger to the highs and lows of constant travel. While she frequently showcases glamorous destinations and exciting tournament stops on social media, she recently pulled back the curtain on the more harrowing side of life on the road.

On Monday, Riddle took to Instagram to share some of her most unsettling travel experiences, including an alleged kidnapping attempt, electrocution, and food poisoning in multiple countries. The revelations came after a small mishap at airport security reminded her of the many travel nightmares she has endured over the years.

“My hoodie got sucked into the x-ray [machine] at TSA this morning,” she wrote, adding that a similar incident once happened at JFK Airport when a machine “ate” her shoe. “We looked for it for 30 mins, and then I had to do a 10-hour travel day with a singular shoe.”

A series of unsettling incidents

Riddle’s misfortunes extended far beyond lost luggage. She revealed that she has suffered food poisoning in Paris, Melbourne, and Acapulco-twice-leading her to avoid the Mexican city entirely this year. However, that wasn’t the most terrifying experience she recounted.

During her travels, Riddle has also dealt with multiple Airbnb break-ins while staying in Santorini, Ibiza, and London. “Happened to be in the residence during all three,” she shared, highlighting the chilling reality of being present during these security breaches.

Perhaps the most alarming story involved an alleged kidnapping attempt in Acapulco last year. Riddle posted a video zooming in on a man hiding behind a tree, explaining, “He & another guy tried to grab me and chased me down the beach. I had to sprint and scream for help from the security guards at the hotel.”

She also recalled how tournament advisors had warned players and their families not to go out alone. Unfortunately, her experience served as a stark reminder of why such precautions are necessary.

Resilience in the face of travel nightmares

Beyond security concerns, Riddle has faced other distressing situations, including an electrocution incident in Eastbourne, England, which left her with visible injuries.

She also mentioned a particularly bad reaction in Shanghai and an overwhelming experience in Amsterdam after consuming a “space brownie.” “Ended up crying on the bathroom floor for 4 hours,” she admitted, convinced she was having a heart attack.

Adding to the chaos, she and Fritz were once forced into an eight-day government quarantine in Korea after testing positive for COVID-19. A video she shared showed Fritz humorously using her as part of his weight training routine while confined in their hotel room.

Despite these daunting experiences, Riddle maintains a positive outlook. “Moral of the story: travel is fun but stay vigilant, ladies,” she concluded.

With over 400,000 Instagram followers, Riddle continues to document her travels as she supports Fritz, currently ranked No. 4 in the world.

As the American tennis star prepares for the BNP Paribas Open, where he previously claimed the title in 2022, Riddle will likely be by his side-hopefully with a smoother travel experience this time around.
