The Golden State Warriors are having a tough time keeping his superstar shooter, Stephen Curry, healthy, which is impacting their ability to win games on a consistent basis.
The California franchise is currently 8th on the Western Conference, with a 10-10 record, a statement of what their season has been so far.
If the Warriors want to survive the West, they will need consistency and depth, two things they don’t have right now. With Curry out, a big load of the offense falls in teh hands of Jimmy Butler, who’s not stranger to being the top scorer in a team.
Kerr does not mince words about Golden State problems
Head coach Steve Kerr didn’t mince words when it came to describing the problems the Golden State Warriors face without Curry on the lineup. “It obviously changes everything, our rotations, how we’re playing, who we’re playing through, so we’ll see,” the multiple NBA champion stated.
Steph had an MRI exam after the Houston Rockets game on Wednesday and he would be reevaluated in a week, which means he likely will miss at least three games. However, it could be longer before Curry is on the court due to the way Golden State deals with injuries and players coming back to action.
“Nobody wants to get hurt, especially that one,” Butler said about Curry. “Obviously we go as far as he goes, but we want him to be right so we have the best opportunity to be great. I think we can hold the fort down for a couple of days,” he added.
“It’s just sad”
The Warriors are also dealing without defensive asset Gary Payton II, who sprained his ankle earlier in Wednesday’s game. “It’s just sad,” Butler stated about how Golden State was not able to follow their game plan and do the small things that can make them win.
“I don’t care about offense, we need to guard somebody,” he said. “We’re good to score, but I don’t want the offense if we’re missing shots to dictate not going and guarding on the defensive side of the ball. I’m going to play the exact same way, but we’ve just got to guard.”
