It has been somewhat of an up-and-down season for the Indiana Fever, but they have treaded water quite well despite being without Caitlin Clark for over half of the team’s games this season. The team sits in 3rd place in the Eastern Conference, 6th overall in the WNBA, with a 15-12 record.

Clark has dealt with a myriad of injuries, but the Fever doing well in her absence – combined with Clark’s inefficiency when she’s been on the court – has led to some fans wondering just how great her impact really is. It seems as if Clark’s list of haters is growing daily, which isn’t sitting well with her teammate and “bodyguard”, Sophie Cunningham.

Cunningham, who developed a huge fanbase earlier this season by defending Clark in a heated contest against the Connecticut Sun, launched her own podcast this week. Titled “Show Me Something“, Cunningham and co-host West Wilson share stories from their respective industries and discuss the happenings around sports and entertainment.

Sophie Cunningham calls Caitlin Clark’s haters “dumb as f**k”

The first episode came out on Monday, and Cunningham kicked it all off with an explosive rant addressing Clark’s haters.

It literally pisses me off when people are like, ‘she’s not the face of the league’. WHAT?! There’s really good, well-known people in our league. I’m not discrediting them. We have a lot of badasses in our league. Hell yeah to that, I’m all for that. But when people try to argue she’s not the face of our league, or our league would be where we’re at without her, you’re dumb as s**t. You’re literally dumb as f**k.

Cunningham’s words will likely resonate throughout the WNBA, and could possibly put more of a target on Clark’s back. But it’s important to have a teammate have your back at every turn and be so outspoken about another player.
