Sophie Cunningham is making the most of her offseason. The star guard was a key player in the Indiana Fever’s run to the WNBA semifinals in 2025 and is now taking a well-deserved break while she waits to make a career-changing decision.

Cunningham joined the Fever last offseason from the Phoenix Mercury. Since her arrival, the seven-year veteran has become a key part of head coach Stephanie White’s system.

Unfortunately, Cunningham’s season was cut short by an MCL injury she suffered in mid-August in a game against the Connecticut Sun. After undergoing surgery, the star guard is rehabilitating her knee.

While waiting for the green light to return to full training and the start of the 2026 WNBA season, Cunningham is making the most of her time, including the recent Thanksgiving.

Cunningham’s mysterious Thanksgiving photo

The Fever star often shares some of the most significant moments of her career and personal life with her followers on social media, from family moments to her game-day outfits.

This Monday, Cunningham took to her Instagram Stories to post a blurry photo of what appears to be a bar, with a simple caption: “Such a happy and fulfilling Thanksgiving.”

It seems clear that Sophie’s Thanksgiving was as satisfying as the rest of her break. The guard has been everywhere from golf tournaments to NASCAR races.

Everywhere she goes, Cunningham exudes her signature positive attitude; however, her next move will define the rest of her career.

Sophie’s choice

Cunningham joined the Fever in a trade from the Mercury, where she had a one-year, $100,000 contract- The deal expired this season, making her a free agent for the first time in her career.

Although Cunningham has said she would like to stay with the Fever, where she has formed a great relationship with Caitlin Clark and Lexie Hull, she hasn’t ruled out other offers.

While she waits for the WNBA’s CBA negotiations to be resolved, Sophie has joined Project B, a women’s winter basketball league that will begin in November 2026.
