Shohei Ohtani of the Los Angeles Dodgers broke his silence after being sued for alleged fraud. The Japanese two-way phenomenon in MLB spoke of a new scandal to which he is linked.
“I’m focused on what the team is doing and doing everything I can to make sure we bring a victory on the field.”, Shohei Ohtani.
Why was Shohei Ohtani sued?
Shohei Ohtani was sued along with his agent, Nez Balelo of Creative Artists Agency, after Balelo allegedly “demanded the dismissals” of two people associated with the real estate project The Vista at Mauna Kea Resort, which consists of 14 luxury homes on the Big Island of Hawaii backed by Ohtani, who was and is the first resident according to the project’s website.
Is Shohei Ohtani legally responsible?
According to attorney Arash Sadat of Mills Sadat Dowlat LLP, who reviewed the legal filing, “They’re not alleging that Ohtani did anything, they’re saying that his agent did it. Generally under the law, when someone is your agent, you can be held liable for something he did on your behalf. That’s why Ohtani can be held liable. We don’t know Ohtani’s knowledge or the extent of his involvement. Even if what (they) are claiming is true, (they) are not claiming that anything illegal occurred.”
Second scandal to which Shohei Ohtani is linked
This is the second scandal to which Shohei Ohtani has been linked, the first being the betting scandal involving his former translator using money from the Japanese two-way phenom’s account.
